The first step in obtaining a Club Permit is to join a Vic Roads approved vehicle club.
Currently, the Bellarine Historic Vehicle Club Inc. has this accreditation and the club has several Club Plate Scheme (CPS) officers.
The next step is to check if your vehicle is eligible for club plates. Check the Vic Roads websitefor information to see if your vehicle is eligible for club plates.
These forms are the Vehicle Eligibility and Standards form and the Club Permit Application form. Both these forms are available from the Vic Roads website.
We recommend if your vehicle is eligible that you prepare all the necessary Vic Roads documentation outlined above. All vehicles eligible for club plates manufactured on or after 31 December 1948 will also require a certificate of roadworthiness from a licensed vehicle tester.
Please note that if your vehicle is modified outside what's permitted in the vehicle standards or is a street rod that hasn't previously been registered in Victoria that additional documentation will be required to obtain a club permit.
If your vehicle is eligible for a club permit you will need to have two forms stated above signed by approved club CPS officers.
Once you have a club CPS officer sign your forms, submit these and your certificate of roadworthiness (if applicable) in person to a Vicroads Customer Service Centre. You will need to have identity documents and be able to pay all fees associated with the issue of club plates at this time.
At the Customer Service Centre you'll be issued a club permit on the spot and get the number plates, log book, club permit certificate and labels.
Once you are allocated a club permit you will need to provide current photographs of your vehicle with it's club plates attached to a club CPS officer as soon as possible.
An obligation of having a club permit is to ensure that you follow club permit conditions and rules on an ongoing basis.
The Bellarine Historic Vehicle Club Inc encourages all new Club Plate Scheme holders to comply with the Club's Statement of Expectations which will be made available to you as a new club member.
